The 100 Women Charitable Foundation will partner with more than 20 downtown Los Altos merchants and restaurants for a Shop & Dine Day fundraiser Thursday.

To date, participating businesses include Adventure Toys & Teachers’ Supplies, Davino Florist, Linden Tree Books, Alys Grace, Fina Lifestyle, Nature Gallery, Apricot Lane, First and Main Sports Lounge, Opa!, Atelier Gray, Gourmet Works, Paperwhirl, Chico’s, JB&B Jewelers, Pendleton Woolen Mills, Cover Story, Know Knew Books, Present, Cranberry Scoop, Kula Sweet and Therapy.

Mention “100 Women” and participating retailers will donate a portion of the day’s sales to the Los Altos-based organization.

All proceeds will underwrite foundation grants to local nonprofit organizations that serve Santa Clara and San Mateo counties.

The foundation will announce the grant recipients at its seventh annual Member Dinner and Grant Vote, scheduled March 7 at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Palo Alto.

The foundation’s mission is to provide access for more women to be involved in local philanthropy and to help make a significant difference in the long-term sustainability of the local nonprofit community.

Since 2006, the foundation has donated $629,500 to community-based organizations with programs that focus on education, family and health and wellness. The organization has grown to 400 members.

Founders of the foundation include Mary Ann Poulos, Barbara Dehn, Connie Viveros and Teri Zingale.
