Los Altos resident Gordon Ulrickson didn’t pick up a camera until 18 months ago, but his work is already on exhibit and winning awards.
As participants in The Richard Dischler Workshops at Keeble & Shuchat Photography in Palo Alto, Ulrickson and three other photographers had a number of their photographs selected for inclusion in “Harmony IV: A Fine Art Photography Exhibit 2013.” The exhibition includes a selection of color and black-and-white images.
Ulrickson said the show features a variety of subjects, including several abstracts and floral photos from his portfolio. In addition to the current exhibition, Ulrickson’s work received three honorable mentions at the 2013 San Mateo County Fair. He attributes the growth of his photography skills to Dischler’s previsualization workshops.
“I can see a large shift in the way I frame things,” said Ulrickson of how the training helped him find focus in his photography by moving closer to subjects.
“Harmony IV” is scheduled for display 11 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. every day through Feb. 3 at Peking Duck Restaurant, 151 S. California Ave., Palo Alto.
