The Purissima Hills Water District and the Los Altos Hills County Fire District are collaborating on Phase 1 of the Neary Tank Utilization Project, which will upgrade water mains along a portion of Altamont Road and multiple side streets.
The water district is the lead agency for the project, which includes installing approximately 850 linear feet of 16-inch ductile iron pipe along the Altamont Tank access road off Byrne Park Lane; 6,900 linear feet of 8- to 12-inch pipe along Altamont (between Taaffe Road and Altamont Court), Taaffe (between Altamont and Dezahara Way), Byrne Park, Dezahara and Moody Road.
The new pipes will increase the available water flow in the area, providing better fire protection and water quality, as well as upgrading the existing, aging distribution system.
Construction should be completed by June. The contractor, Mountain Cascade Inc., will notify affected residents in writing 48 hours prior to the start. Working hours will be limited to 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays.
Before construction began, the area was videotaped and photographed to ensure that Mountain Cascade restores the roadways to preconstruction conditions. As with previous projects, residents will have full access to their properties during construction. Potential 10-15 minute delays during construction hours can be expected while the contractor maneuvers equipment at and around the site.
