Police Blotter

One dead in MV fire

Mountain View firefighters responded to a single-alarm mobile-home fire in the early-morning hours Monday that left one person dead.

According to the Mountain View Fire Department, emergency personnel responded to reports of the blaze at 1075 Space Park Way at approximately 12:34 a.m. and found one of the park’s units fully engulfed in flames. Firefighters at the scene were unable to enter the unit until the fire was extinguished because its structural integrity (both floor and ceiling) had been compromised. Responders later found the body of a deceased resident during a follow-up search. The Santa Clara Coroner’s Office has yet to release the identity of the deceased individual.

Fire and police officials had not determined the cause of the fire or the cause of death as of the Town Crier’s press deadline.

Student assaulted, robbed by group

A group of male juveniles assaulted and robbed a student while he was walking home from school Nov. 26.

The group, which police believe consisted of four to five members ages 17 and older, approached the victim on Casita Way, asked for directions and began assaulting him, according to Los Altos Police Detective Abe Velasco. The group was last seen fleeing the scene near Los Altos High in a black four-door Toyota or Honda sedan after stealing some of the victim’s personal items. Police were unable to locate the suspects after the incident was reported at 3:07 p.m.

Anyone with information is encouraged to contact Velasco at 947-2770.

Harassment

Nov. 25, 6:40 p.m., 500 block of Palm Avenue: A female victim contacted police after she received several harassing phone calls from a former boyfriend.
