Los Altos merchants are gearing up for the holiday shopping season, including Small Business Saturday this week.

Several retailers plan to offer discounts and other incentives for customers shopping locally the day after Black Friday. American Express started the event in 2010 to support small businesses and is also offering incentives for cardholders purchasing items at participating retailers.
