COURTESY OF ELLA HEALTH

Los Altos resident Dyrdahl

named new CEO at ella health

ella health, a 3-D mammography and women’s health-care provider, has appointed Los Altos resident Melissa Dyrdahl (above) as chief executive officer to guide its expansion into new locations and services.

Dyrdahl has experience building and advising growing companies. A breast cancer survivor, she understands the barriers and challenges facing women when it comes to health care.

“Women should have access to health care designed specifically for their needs, and it should be both high quality and convenient,” she said. “Women are busy and they spend a lot of time caring for others. What we offer at ella health is a new perspective on how to help them take charge of their own health.”

Dyrdahl fills a role created to manage the growth of the two-year-old company, which provides a new model of women’s health-care delivery, starting with breast cancer screening services.

ella health is one of the few centers in the country to offer 3-D mammography, an advanced technology that is more effective in detecting cancers and reducing false positives than conventional 2-D imaging. ella health centers are designed to be more like a spa than a clinic, with private dressing rooms, cloth robes and heated exam rooms.

“ella health is not a typical health-care provider,” Dyrdahl said. “Our centers are built around what women have told us they want, and we look for ways to exceed their expectations.”

Dyrdahl previously served as vice president of Pivotal Labs, senior vice president of corporate marketing at Adobe Systems Inc. and co-founder and CEO of Bring Light Inc.

Dyrdahl has received numerous honors, including being named a Distinguished Alumna of San Jose State University and one of the 100 Most Influential Women in Silicon Valley.

The San Francisco-based ella health plans to open centers across the U.S.
