Los Altos man charged with assault, elder abuse

An elderly man allegedly assaulted at home by his son Nov. 12 remained hospitalized Friday, according to Los Altos Police. The suspect in the attack – identified by police as 52-year-old Amir Imanian – was apprehended later that day.

Detective Abe Velasco said police at 7:30 a.m. received a report of battery with bodily injury on an elderly male at a home on the 300 block of Juanita Way. The 92-year-old victim was transported to a local hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries, Velasco added.

“This was a very sad and tragic incident that occurred,” Velasco told the Town Crier. “The police department takes elder abuse very seriously, and we are working closely with the district attorney on this case.”

The detective said the suspect had fled by the time police arrived at the home but returned that evening and was arrested without incident. Both parties live at the residence, Velasco said.

Imanian was charged with assault causing great bodily injury, elder abuse and criminal threats. He remains in the Santa Clara County Main Jail.
