CIF seeks noms for All-Century Teams

The California Interscholastic Federation is accepting nominations for its All-Century Teams. The CIF governs the state’s high school sports. Former student-athletes who demonstrated significant athletic contributions in CIF-approved sports are eligible and anyone can nominate a student-athlete they deem worthy. Fall sports nominations will be accepted through November, winter nominations December through February and spring nominations March through May. Voting will take place during the next school year. Spartan Turkey Trot scheduled Nov. 28

Mountain View High’s fourth annual Spartan Turkey Trot is slated Thanksgiving morning (Nov. 28) on the school track. Race-day registration opens at 7:30 a.m. The 5K run is slated to start at 8:30 a.m. and the 5K walk at 8:35 a.m. A series of fun runs is planned immediately after the 5Ks: a 60-yard dash, a 400-yard dash and a mile run. The top three finishers in the men’s and women’s divisions of the 5K run will be awarded home-baked pumpkin pies and a gift certificate for the On Your Mark running store in Los Altos. A shot at Cooperstown

The Los Altos-Mountain View PONY Baseball Mavericks, a Cooperstown Club Team for players 12-and-under, has scheduled tryouts 10 a.m. to noon Dec. 7 at Covington School, 201 Covington Road, Los Altos.
