PNG needs volunteers

Partners for New Generations, a nonprofit group that has provided mentors and tutors to local students for 16 years, has scheduled a volunteer information night and open house 6-7 p.m. Nov. 7 at Mountain View Los Altos Union High School District offices, 1299 Bryant Ave., adjacent to Mountain View High School.

PNG coordinators from both its programs, elementary and middle school tutoring and high school mentoring, will provide a brief overview of the organization and how it functions locally.

Teens and their volunteer adult mentors do everything from bowling to hiking, cooking and going to movies. Primarily they talk – and listen – to one another. The relationships are designed to help struggling students build self-esteem and find positive direction in their lives.

PNG hopes to attract new volunteers, but there is no obligation to sign up.

To RSVP, call Carole Dorshkind at 766-2162.

For more information, visit pngmvla.org.
