FRED HANSEN

FredHansen

Fred Hansen, resident of Los Gatos CA, died unexpectedly due to a fall in his condominium in Puerto Vallarta Mexico September 24th 2013. He was there celebrating his recent birthday and working on plans to build his retirement home.

Fred was a graduate of Los Altos High School in 1969, an Eagle Scout at the age of 13, and active in forming a new Boy Scout troop in that community. While in college, he started several local service based businesses with his brother Karl.  Fred obtained a degree in Sociology/Criminology from San Jose State University in 1976.  He applied his education and passion in a position working with the Tuolumne County Juvenile Probation Department assisting at risk and troubled juvenile offenders to rehabilitate themselves.  He subsequently pursued various business management opportunities and property development projects in the Bay Area, and Oregon, until joining his brother as CFO at The Vita Companies in 1990.  In this capacity Fred became expert at managing all property and financial aspects of the multimillion dollar organization.

Highly self-reliant in his personal life from his youth onward, Fred maintained a diverse and active lifestyle with many people and various interests including playing the piano, driving high performance cars & motorcycles, flying his Cessna TR-182 aircraft, and traveling throughout the world.  He was an accomplished amateur sports photographer who volunteered his skills for several local high school teams.

Fred was a thoughtful caretaker of his mother, Martha Hansen, who precedes him in death.  He maintained lifelong associations with many friends and former coworkers by being generous with his time, advice, and assistance in their lives.  He is survived by his brother Karl, nephew Erik, and nieces Jennifer and Andrea Jane (AJ).

A local memorial service is planned at the Los Altos United Methodist Church, 655 Magdalena Ave, Los Altos for Fred on October 9th 2013 at 3:30pm.  A reception will follow immediately at the LAUMC Creekside Center.  All are welcome to join in celebrating Fred’s glorious life.

Fred enjoyed his second home in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico where he maintained a community of loving friends.  A second memorial service will be help on Saturday, October 12th in the afternoon at Selva Romantica Condos in Old Vallarta.

The family requests that flowers and expressions of love  be shared within your family and loved ones, as we know that Fred  would want the love for each of us to grow and most importantly, be expressed more often within our family and our extended community.
