Mercifully in His grip: Exploring our true position in Christ

I recently read a wonderful analogy about our true position in Christ. It was shockingly contrary to the messages impressed upon me in church, but deeply rooted in the Bible. The analogy is that of child and a parent. If you have ever taken a small ...

JUDITH CLOW FUCILLA

OBIT JudithFucilla

Van’s Everything

Judith Clow Fucilla made it all appear so simple - mother, grandmother, friend, hostess extraordinaire, volunteer, supreme gardener, bargain hunter, culinary artist and Van’s everything.

People were drawn to Judy because of her energy, warmth, enthusiasm and generosity. Due to her wide-ranging interests and natural curiosity she would often meet and engage a variety of people—many of whom became family friends. Not only was she a loving wife and an incredible mother, she was a terrific friend to many. Judy quietly watched out for, advised, consoled, comforted, and provided company and assistance to so many friends. There was always space at Judy’s table for people who needed a happy, welcoming place and a meal. She was a natural hostess. Her exceptional sense of fashion and style was so evident in the wonderful events she regularly held in their home. Judy was an avid lover of art, the theatre, travel, lectures, cooking and gardening. She spent many hours toiling away in her splendid garden. She could see beauty in the simplest things.

Judy passed away in her Los Altos home at age 81 after a courageous and gracious battle with cancer. Judy leaves behind her loving husband Ivan “Van” Fucilla, her six daughters, Carrie Thomas (John), Audrey Carlson (John--deceased), Julie Waters (Jim), Beth Seibert (Kurt), Lisa Amoroso and Mollie Fucilla (Joseph McGinley) as well as 7 grandchildren.

Judy and Van began their 64-year love affair while in high school in Evanston, Illinois. Married for 60 years, they have set an example of love and devotion for us all.

Judy expressed her gratitude daily for her wonderful life—her marvelous husband and her much-loved family. We are all so very grateful to have had her in our lives. Judy will be truly missed.

Family and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Mass Celebration at 11:00 AM, October 4, 2013 at her long time parish, St. Nicholas Church, 473 Lincoln Avenue, Los Altos, CA. Reception to follow. If you need further information please contact: Spangler Mortuaries, Los Altos, CA.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to either:

Pathways Hospice Foundation, 585 North Mary Avenue, Sunnyvale, CA, 94085-2905. www.pathwayshealth.org OR

Stanford University’s Dermatology Gift Fund-Skin Cancer Research Development Services, PO Box 20466, Stanford, CA 94309-0466, http://dermatology.stanford.edu/gift/
