Los Altos Forward has scheduled a discussion about improving pedestrian and cyclist safety 5:45-7:30 p.m. Oct. 2 at Outer Space Gallery, 359 State St., in downtown Los Altos.
The event, part of Los Altos Forward's Community Conversations series, includes information about planning and design strategies that improve the safety of streets and intersections for pedestrians and bicycles, from bike boxes to flexible-use lanes to squaring intersections.
Leading the discussion is Darby Watson, a senior urban planner in Arup’s San Francisco-based Integrated Planning practice and a key member of the Urban Planning and Policy team. Prior to joining Arup she led the City of Seattle’s Complete Streets program and was the urban design lead for the Department of Transportation (SDOT).
Los Altos Forward has a mission to promote community vibrancy in downtown Los Altos, facilitates Los Altos First Fridays and Los Altos Community Conversations, and is a project of the Los Altos Community Foundation. For more information, visit www.losaltosforward.org.
