LACF gala pays tribute to rocking 1950s with fundraiser that benefits community: Social Scenes

Ellie Van Houtte/ Town Crier
The Los Altos Community Foundation’s recent 1950s-themed fundraising gala at Stonebrook Court Manor in Los Altos Hills attracted fun-loving attendees like Ellen and Paul Gonella.

The Los Altos Community Foundation held its annual fundraising gala, “Shake, Rattle & Roll,” Sept. 7 at the Tudor-style Stonebrook Court Manor in Los Altos Hills.

More than 180 supporters attended the 1950s-themed event, which featured vintage cars, a jukebox and dancing in the ballroom.

Following dinner on the lawn, Santa Clara County Supervisor Joe Simitian led the auctioning of a number of vacation, dining and sports packages. Many attendees raised their paddles to contribute to the new Roy Lave Youth and Community Fund, established in honor of the foundation’s recently retired co-founder and executive director.

The event netted more than $60,000, which will support foundation programs and services that benefit the local community. The foundation has served Los Altos, Los Altos Hills and Mountain View since 1991. Its grants to the community have provided more than $1.1 million to assist local nonprofits, manage programs, fiscally sponsor nonprofit startups, host Donor Advised and Designated Funds, and bring the community together to solve problems.
