Police Blotter

Downtown business executive investigated for embezzlement

The financial officer of a Main Street business is being investigated for allegedly embezzling more than $450,000 of the employer’s funds.

Los Altos Police Sgt. Cameron Shearer said the employer, located at 146 Main St., contacted police Thursday after making the discovery. The address currently houses several businesses.

Shearer, who declined to name the business in question because of the ongoing investigation, said the case has been forwarded to the law enforcement agency in the city where the suspect currently lives.

Injury accident/DUI

Sept. 22, 2:50 a.m., Foothill Expressway and Interstate 280: A motorist crashed into a sound wall after exiting Interstate 280 and crossing four lanes of Foothill Expressway. The driver was transported to a local hospital for treatment. A California Highway Patrol officer later arrested the motorist for driving under the influence of alcohol at the time of the crash.

DUI arrests

Sept. 20, 11:41 p.m., San Luis and El Monte avenues: A 26-year-old male motorist was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol after police initially pulled him over for a vehicle code violation. He was later cited and released from the Los Altos Police Station.

Sept. 21, 11:27 p.m., Grant Road and Morton Avenue: Police arrested a 23-year-old male motorist after he failed a field sobriety test during a traffic stop. He was later cited and released from the Los Altos Police Station.

Residential burglary

Sept. 19, 12:55 p.m., 900 block of North San Antonio Road: An unknown suspect

cut the lock of a condominium complex’s storage unit. Residents told police they were not aware of any items being stolen from the unit.

Major injury accident

Sept. 16, 8:26 a.m., Foothill Expressway and Magdalena Avenue: A four-car collision on Foothill Expressway resulted in three motorists being transported to a local hospital. The injured motorists complained of head, neck and back pains, according to police.

Burglary attempt

Sept. 16, 8:15 a.m., 4900 block of El Camino Real: An unknown suspect cut a hole into the hallway wall of a business complex, reached in and unlocked a deadbolt lock to a break into the room. The suspect ransacked the room but apparently did not steal anything, according to police.
