JANE RECKAMP SPRINGGATE

OBIT JaneSpringgate

Long time Los Altos Hills resident Jane Reckamp Springgate died in the early morning of September 7, 2013. She was 82 years old.

Jane was born on July 19, 1931 in St Louis, Missouri, the second daughter of Norman and Mildred Reckamp. Jane graduated from Ursuline Academy in St Louis, and following graduation worked at Monsanto Company where she met James Springgate. They were married in 1955 and had two children, John Springgate and Ann Springgate. The family relocated to West Virginia for six years, moved back to St Louis for seven years, and then moved to Los Altos Hills in 1975.

Jane was a devout Catholic and member of St. Nicholas Parish in Los Altos. She was active for over 30 years with the Palo Alto Auxiliary for Children (Allied Arts Guild), which benefits the Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital at Stanford. Jane volunteered every Tuesday as a server and later as hostess at the Guild’s tea room. She enjoyed playing bridge, hosting dinner parties, and celebrating the holidays with her friends and family.  She and Jim traveled frequently, including several visits to Europe as well as trips to Japan, Korea, Alaska, the Caribbean, Australia, and New Zealand.

She is survived by James, her husband of over 57 years, her sisters Mary Louise Seyer and Maureen Frese, her brother Raymond Reckamp, her daughter Ann, her son John and his wife Lisa, her granddaughter Bridget Bush and her husband Philip Bush, and her grandsons James, Edmund and Charles Springgate.

Jane will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

A funeral mass was held on Monday, September 9th at St Nicholas Church. Gifts of remembrance may be made in Jane’s name to the Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital at Stanford, 400 Hamilton Ave., Suite 340, Palo Alto, CA  94301.
