Living Classroom recruits volunteers

The Los Altos School District’s Living Classroom Program seeks volunteers who enjoy working with students and appreciate nature.

The program reaches all grade levels in the district and includes hands-on education in science, math and social studies.

Training is available to acquaint docents with the lesson content. All materials are provided. A docent and often an assistant docent along with one or two volunteer parents direct lessons inside or outside the classroom. A training session is scheduled Monday, and classroom management training is slated Sept. 30.

To introduce potential volunteers to the gardens used in Living Classroom lessons, officials are scheduled to host a tour of several of the Los Altos school gardens Oct. 7.

For more information, visit Living-Classroom.org.
