California Water Service Co. confirmed last month that its water continues to meet all water quality standards, despite a musty smell caused by compounds in the treated water, provided by the Santa Clara Valley Water District, the local wholesaler.
“The Santa Clara Valley Water District is working hard to remove taste- and odor-causing compounds in the water,” said Elissa Ouyang, acting district manager. “In the meantime, we want to assure customers that the water meets all drinking-water quality standards.”
According to Ouyang, Cal Water conducts rigorous monitoring to ensure that it provides water that meets the stringent water quality standards set to protect public health and safety.
Cal Water serves approximately 65,800 people through 18,800 service connections in Los Altos and parts of Los Altos Hills, Mountain View, Cupertino and Sunnyvale.
The company has provided water service in the area since 1931.
