EDWARD TAKAO HARADA

March 13, 1948 - August 3, 2013

Edward Takao Harada, age 65 of Palo Alto, CA was called home to Christ on August 3, 2013.

Born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Ed was the first child of the late Tomio and Bessie Harada. At the age of two, his family returned to their roots in Oahu, Hawaii where he grew up. There, he attended University High School, graduating in 1966 before going on to earn a Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering and a Master’s Degree in Computer Science in 1972 at the University of Hawaii. He then moved to the Silicon Valley to start his career, where he worked in the semiconductor industry for 20 years at MMI and AMD.

In 1978, he married his wife Kitty Harada and established a home in Palo Alto, CA.

Ed had a tremendous heart for service, volunteering to mentor special needs children, helping out with youth outreach at Camp May-Mac where the kids fondly called him ‘Bear’, ringing the bell for The Salvation Army, and distributing Scriptures for The Gideons to local high schools and at Moffett Field.

Ed is survived by his wife, Kitty Harada, his son, Symon Harada, siblings Sharie Hartwell, Erik Harada, and Karen Fogelsanger, an aunt, nephews, nieces and other loving relatives.

A celebration of his life will be held at 3:30 p.m. August 16 in the Worship Center of Bridges Community Church, 625 Magdalena Ave, Los Altos, CA 94024. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial donations in his name can be made to Bridges Community Church of Los Altos, or The Gideons International, Foothill Camp.
