Police Blotter

Thieves at Kohl’s pepper spray guard

Mountain View Police are investigating a July 28 incident in which a group of women pepper-sprayed a guard after fleeing Kohl’s department store with nearly $2,000 in stolen jeans.

According to Sgt. Sean Thompson, the security guard was assaulted by one of the three women in question after he observed them stuffing several brand-name pairs of jeans into bags shortly after 4 p.m. The women dropped several pairs as they fled the scene but still stole upwards of $1,700 worth of merchandise.

According to Thompson, all three women were African-American, ranging in age from their mid-teens to mid-20s. One was described as having long black hair and wearing a dark-colored shirt and jeans, standing 5 feet, 6 inches tall. A second female stood 5 feet, 4 inches tall and wore a plaid long-sleeved shirt and dark pants. A third woman, also with long black hair, wore a light-colored top and dark jeans at the time of the incident, Thompson said.

Anyone with information on the case is encouraged to call the Mountain View Police at 903-6348.
