Gas leaf-blower use
July 24 and 25: The Los Altos Police Department issued a spate of citations last week for gas leaf-blower violations. Sgt. Cameron Shearer said complaints had been increasing and warnings – which officers can issue in lieu of citations – appeared to have diminishing effect. Officers issued seven citations over two days.
Farmers’ Market parking violation
July 25, 2-2:45 p.m., State Street: Four car owners returned to State Street Thursday afternoon to discover that they faced hefty towing fees for parking in the Los Altos Farmers’ Market zone. Shearer said the number of tows varies week to week without apparent rhyme or reason, and that a broad cross-section of drivers appeared to run afoul of the temporary parking ban last week.
Unknown date, 2200 block of Homestead Court: An unknown suspect pried open an apartment door and stole several items sometime between July 9 and 29.
July 23, 7:30-8:30 p.m., 1000 block of North San Antonio Road: An unknown suspect smashed a vehicle’s window, stealing a briefcase containing a laptop.
July 27, between 8 and 9 p.m., Loucks Avenue: An unknown suspect removed the screen from an unlocked master bedroom window to enter and ransack a house.
