MARGUERITE (ELEANOR) DEDONATO MEADE

Marguerite Meade of Los Altos died peacefully at home surrounded by her family. She was the daughter of Dr. Xavier and Flora DeDonato. Born into a prominent Seattle family Marguerite was 3rd eldest of 10. She graduated from Forest Ridge Sacred Heart Convent, and attended the University of Washington. She met the love of her life, Richard Meade, who attended Seattle Prep with her brothers. Upon his graduation from Notre Dame University, they were married in St. Joseph’s Seattle in 1939. They raised their family of eight children in Seattle, Wa., Belmont, Ca., Westport, Ct., and Los Altos. She was a loving wife, extraordinary mother, wonderful friend and neighbor. Our Mother left us a wonderful legacy: love of family, Roman Catholic faith, joy of life, curiosity, appreciation of education, the arts, and a deep loyalty to one another. She was unflappable in a crisis and often saw the humor in everything. She loved family gatherings, bridge, gardening, baseball, horse races, nickel slot machines and chocolate. We will miss her sparkly blue eyes.

She is survived by her children: Richard Meade (Carol), Peter Meade (Charlene), Ann English (Mike), Connie Meade, Barbara Van Thillo (Guido), Jeannie Popovich (Perry), Tricia Cox (Bill), and John Meade (Diane); and by 19 Grandchildren and 17 Great-Grandchildren, all of whom will cherish her memory. She will be buried with a private family ceremony at Gate of Heaven Cemetery. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Nicholas Church, Los Altos on Thursday June 13, 2013 at 11:00 a.m.
