Residents seeking a little breather from the busy week are invited to stop by downtown Los Altos for June’s First Friday event, scheduled 6-8 p.m. Friday.

Los Altos Forward, a grassroots group promoting downtown vibrancy, arranges the event, which features live entertainment, refreshments and evening store hours, the first Friday of every month.

Participants can browse and shop at the stores and galleries that stay open late for the event. Many offer First Friday discounts and complimentary treats. They can also enjoy musical entertainment as they stroll the streets. Musicians scheduled to play Friday include Noah and the Shrammettes, The Human Parallel and The Sunday Seven.

More than 20 downtown restaurants will join in Friday’s event. Merchants that will participate include Adventure Toys & Teachers’ Supplies, Apricot Lane Boutique, Baskin-Robbins, BK Collections, Bubble Kids, Costume Bank, Cranberry Scoop, Gallery 9 Los Altos, Gourmet Works, JB&B Jewelers, Linden Tree Books, Maria’s France-Italy-England, Nature Gallery, On Your Mark, Peet’s Coffee & Tea, Peninsula Beauty Supply, Present, Skateworks, Therapy, Village Stationers and Yum Yum Tree.

Los Altos Forward organizers said First Fridays are aimed at providing fun, social and community-building evenings for residents of Los Altos, Los Altos Hills and surrounding communities.

Los Altos Forward is a program of the Los Altos Community Foundation, www.losaltoscf.org. The Town Crier is a media sponsor of the event.
