Mercifully in His grip: Exploring our true position in Christ

I recently read a wonderful analogy about our true position in Christ. It was shockingly contrary to the messages impressed upon me in church, but deeply rooted in the Bible. The analogy is that of child and a parent. If you have ever taken a small ...

Los Altos helped out the Mountain View Fire Department when it responded to an early morning mobile home fire on Jan. 13.

One unit in the Sahara Mobile Village was destroyed in the blaze, which is still under investigation but did not appear suspicious according to Mountain View Fire Public Information Officer Jaime Garrett.

Mountain View requested a battalion chief from Los Altos for the two-alarm fire. A second battalion chief can coordinate overall safety at the scene of a fire while the first battalion chief serves as incident commander. Garrett said that the close proximity of homes built from flammable materials drove the second alarm.
“Mobile homes, the materials and construction type, they are very, very flammable,” she said. “Anything above a one alarm fire we have to call for mutual aid resources.”

The Santa Clara County Fire department also responded to a passenger vehicle fire on Robleda Road in Los Altos Hills after a car collided with a power pole on Jan. 14.

Fraud and theft
Someone at 40 Main St. reported a fraud in progress, as did folks at Bank of the West and Fiesta Vallarta. Cold reports of theft came in from the 800 block of University Avenue, Andiamo Salon, and Safeway.
Residents on the 900 block of Aura Way reported a residential burglary attempt and on the 2000 block of Farndon Ave. reported a residential burglary.
The 1100 block of Covington Road experienced a bike theft, the 1400 block of Miramonte Ave registered the theft of mail and someone on the 500 block of Deodara Dr reported identity theft.

Stolen Vehicles
Residents reported stolen vehicles on the 2000 block of Latham Street and the 1400 block of Cedar Place, and a stolen vehicle was recovered on the 2200 block of Homestead Court.

Traffic collisions
Traffic collisions occurred without injury at the intersections of S El Monte and University Avenue, Foothill Expressway and Edith Road and Foothill Expressway and Highway 280. A hit-and-run accident at S Antonio Road and Whitney Street also included no injury. A traffic collision on the 1100 block of Covington Road included one complaint of pain.

Mayhem
Officers took report of a coyote running through the area of St. Joseph Avenue and Foothill Expressway last week. They took calls related to disturbing the peace on the 800 block of Fremont Avenue, trespassing at 316 State St., a family disturbance on the 1200 block of Petersen Court and construction noise complaints at 960 San Antonio Road and on the 700 block of Sunshine Drive. The Walgreens on Second ST. reported vandalism.

Canine collaboration
Mountain View Police Department’s two-year-old Labrador, Zeus, participated in a “postal interdiction inspection” in December. He was helping out the Santa Clara County Special Enforcement Team, and discovered 250 pounds of marijuana headed out of state. Mountain View police reported that the seizure had a street value of $500,000.
The special enforcement team draws narcotics detectives (and dogs) from agencies throughout the county.
SCCSET is comprised of narcotics detectives from law enforcement agencies throughout Santa Clara County and the task force is primarily charged with investigating narcotics related crimes.
