This weekend, Riggs will be one of the hundreds of featured artists at the Los Altos Art and Wine Festival, but he won't be showcasing his work in jewelry.
Instead, Riggs will be selling bronze sculptures, some reaching nearly nine feet in height.
"I was sculpting for fun and giving away my work to friends," he said. "Their response was quite dramatic."
That was when he decided to quit the jewelry business and dedicate his full time to sculpting and painting.
He said he travels to different art festivals throughout the year and some of the first festivals he did were for the Los Altos Rotary Club.
There, he met other artists who told him about Nancie Allie, from California Artists, who put on big art shows in the area. That was the first time Riggs had heard of the Los Altos Arts and Wine Festival and its popularity.
Now going on his second year participating at the festival, Riggs said he's realized what he's been missing out on.
His sculptures, range from a variety of animals to masks.
Costs range from $1,500 to $45,000 each.
"The gods have been very kind to me," he said. "My wife usually keeps track of what I sell, but I believe I sold seven to eight sculptures last year."
