LAH considers further solar ordinance
In a further bid to support energy conservation in Los Altos Hills, the city council will evaluate an ordinance amendment to promote solar panels April 27.
The amendment would approve a 500-square-foot maximum development area exemption for solar panel installation.
At present, solar arrays are among the development projects limited by ordinance.
LAH planners pursue eucalyptus ban
Blue-gum eucalyptus trees, known for their speedy growth, dropped limbs and flammable nature, may be in their final days in Los Altos Hills.
The planning commission has directed staff to prepare an amendment of the town development ordinance requiring the removal of blue gum eucalyptus trees as a condition of site development permits.
Any homeowner applying for a significant development project would be required to remove any blue-gum trees on the property. The ordinance may allow for exemptions by appeal to the town.
