The Los Altos Planning Commission is scheduled to weigh another single-story overlay district in town, this one for the properties fronting Panchita Way between Jardin Drive and Alvarado Avenue.
The meeting, scheduled 7:30 p.m., Sept. 20, will also consider a permit application for the return of a "mom and pop" store in a residential neighborhood on Los Altos Avenue. The permit seeks to use the former J&R's Foodland location again as a retail market.
The council unanimously approved two of the Planning Commission's last three recommendations at the council's Aug. 28 meeting. The council approved requiring a $50 removal permit for the destruction of any tree greater than 48 inches in circumference. The city previously protected only four species of large trees. The council also assented to continue unchanged the city's construction hours in residential neighborhoods. The council rejected the commission's recommendation to remove direct council oversight of Board of Adjustments appeals.
