Words cannot describe our feelings of loss and grief over the untimely passing of Gerhard K. Sander, a tremendous husband, father, grandfather and friend.
Emigrating from Germany as a young man, Gerhard first went to Canada to work on a dude ranch, where his love for horses blossomed. He then moved to California and applied his brilliant engineering mind to Stanford's Linear Accelerator program, working in the physics department, and to Xerox, where he led the development of the first color copy machine. He ended his career by designing and building distinctive custom homes in the area. Gerhard was a family man first, always putting us above all else including himself. Tragically, he ran out of time and was unable to fulfill his lifelong dream of creating a Horse Sanctuary, which we will now carry out in his honor.
Gerhard died at the age of 75 on 19 April 2010. His memory will live on through Mona, his wife of 41 years, Fiona and Michelle, his daughters, and Carson & Preston, his grand children.
