Members of the Foothill-De Anza Community College District Board of Trustees are scheduled to discuss the future of local community colleges 7-9 p.m. Jan. 27 at the Los Altos main library, 13 S. San Antonio Road.
The forum is the first in the monthly “Hot Topics” series co-sponsored by the library and the leagues of Women Voters of Los Altos-Mountain View, Palo Alto and Cupertino-Sunnyvale.
“Colleges face difficult times and tough decisions, and all of us have a stake in their success,” said Sue Graham, president of the Los Altos-Mountain View League. “People may have children who plan to attend community college. Or they themselves may need job retraining or want enrichment classes.”
Discussion will address the problems the colleges face as budgets tighten and how funding constraints could affect their core mission. Attendees are invited to give trustees feedback on what they think the colleges’ priorities should be.
