The League of Women Voters and the Los Altos Library have scheduled a forum to present the pros and cons of state propositions on the June 8 ballot, 7-9 p.m. May 12 in the Program Room of the main library, 13 S. San Antonio Road.
Five propositions will appear on the upcoming ballot:
•Â Proposition 13 – Limits on property-tax assessment. Seismic retrofitting of existing buildings. Legislative constitutional amendment.
•Â Proposition 14 – Elections. Increases right to participate in primary elections.
•Â Proposition 15 – California Fair Elections Act.
•Â Proposition 16 – Imposes new two-thirds voter approval requirement for local public electricity providers. Initiative constitutional amendment.
•Â Proposition 17 – Allows auto insurance companies to base their prices in part on a driver’s history of coverage. Initiative statute.
