The Loyola Corners bicycle route along Fremont Avenue will open Saturday as part of the weekly certified Farmer's Market located on the Bank of America parking lot. Organizers are hoping the painted bike lanes on Fremont Avenue will give the Los Altos resident cyclists a non-expressway option for an easier ride to Loyola Corners.
Parking along the Foothill Expressway side of Fremont Avenue will be prohibited as required by state-mandated regulations. The "no parking" signs will be unmasked prior to the 8:30 a.m. to noon Farmers Market.
Two designated parking lots on either side of the market will more than make up for the lost spaces along the expressway, according to market manager Carol McCarthy. One lot is behind the Bank of America building and the other beyond the Beacon service station on Dolores Avenue.
Additional parking is available in the Loyola Corners business district parking plaza nearby. Organizers said Farmers Market parking on the residential streets is discouraged as a courtesy to the neighbors.
The eight annual Los Altos Farmers Market at Loyola Corners will continue through Nov. 23.
