Camp Galileo, which sponsors camps for pre-K through fifth-grade students every summer, has expanded its offerings to include a camp for older students in Los Altos.

In addition to its pre-kindergarten through fifth-grade summer camp, Galileo Learning has expanded its local operations to include the Galileo Summer Quest program for older students at Santa Rita School this summer.

Galileo Learning, an Oakland-based company that operates summer enrichment programs throughout the Bay Area, offers Camp Galileo and Galileo Summer Quest. According to organizers, the programs are designed to emphasize a hands-on curriculum that promotes creativity, innovation and teamwork.

Galileo Summer Quest, offered to incoming fifth- through eighth-graders, explores a different subject during each weeklong session. Mentors and small team-oriented classes aim to inspire campers to pursue their passions, organizers said, creating “burgeoning visionaries” in the process.

Camp Galileo and Galileo Summer Quest sessions are scheduled 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. weekdays June 17 through July 19 at Santa Rita School, 700 Los Altos Ave.

Using the Galileo Innovation Approach, camp organizers said the programs teach children to innovate without fear of failing, building their creative confidence through a curriculum that complements school-year academics and “delivers all the fun” of summer camp. Offerings include activities in art, science and the outdoors, developed with the Chabot Space & Science Center, the de Young Museum, Klutz, The Tech Museum and the Charles M. Schulz Museum and Research Center.
