Los Altos Hills’ annual Hoppin’ Hounds event has gone to the dogs.

It might not be quite like chasing a rabbit down, but dogs and their owners can join the hunting party at Los Altos Hills’ 10th Annual Hoppin’ Hounds Easter Biscuit Hunt 9-11 a.m. Saturday at Byrne Preserve, adjacent to Westwind Community Barn, 27210 Altamont Road.

According to Sarah Gualtieri, community services coordinator, approximately 250 dogs on-leash are expected to follow their noses – with owners in close pursuit – as they search for dog biscuits donated by Pet Food Express and K9 Krunchies.

“This is a great way to socialize with your furry friend,” Gualtieri said.

A suggested donation of $5 benefits Palo Alto Animal Services. Last year’s Hoppin’ Hounds event raised $709 for the shelter, which provides animal control officers in Los Altos Hills for sick, injured, stray or aggressive animals.

To donate, call 947-2518 or email Gualtieri at This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it
