Fourth-grade Junior Girl Scouts from Covington School in Los Altos conducted a food drive at school, collecting hundreds of canned goods to donate to the InnVision Food Closet in Palo Alto to benefit homeless residents in need. The girls delivered the canned goods to the Food Closet, stocking the shelves. The Scouts, above, are all smiles after completing their good deed. During the holiday season, the girls raised more than $1,000 for an adopt-a-family program. They provided gifts, groceries and other neccessities for three Bay Area families to help them enjoy the holiday. The troop raised the money primarily through bake sales in Los Altos and Mountain View.

What a great gesture to assist those so much in need while exposing these girls
to the opportunities to help others and to find how easily it can be achieved.

Congratulations to the school and its teachers for "teaching outside the book"
