Moy Eng, executive director of the Community School of Music and Arts (CSMA) in Mountain View for the past two years, plans to step down from the position at the end of the month.

Eng will transition to a new role as senior adviser to the school’s board of directors April 1, according to spokesman John Williams. He said the board would appoint an interim executive director during the search for a successor.

During her tenure, Eng led the school to a record-setting year, including its highest enrollment for private lessons and the largest revenue in its 45-year history.

“With an improving economy as a backdrop, this achievement can be in part attributed to her focus on strengthening faculty, marketing, customer service and donor stewardship,” Williams said.

“It is a bittersweet moment to depart CSMA at this pinnacle,” Eng said.

Over her career, Eng has worked as a grantmaker, consultant and senior staff member with more than 500 nonprofit organizations across multiple fields, including the arts, education, renewable energy and human rights in the U.S. and internationally. She currently serves on the board of the Northern California Community Loan Fund and as senior adviser on a national team consulting to the California Arts Council’s arts education initiative, CREATE CA.

Founded in 1968, CSMA is Northern California’s largest nonprofit provider of arts education programs. With a $4.7 million budget and 165-member staff and faculty, it is one of the 10 largest community schools of its kind in the nation. Annually, CSMA serves more than 22,000 people, including 10,660 students in more than 600 classrooms at 35 schools in Santa Clara and San Mateo counties.
