Presentation

The Senior Center and Stanford Hospital & Clinics have scheduled a Fall Prevention presentation 1 p.m. April 18 in the Los Altos main library Program Room, 13 S. San Antonio Road. Stanford Community Outreach Supervisor Ellen Corman will discuss fall prevention and Stanford’s free home-based program, Farewell to Falls. The presentation is designed for seniors 65 and older who have fallen or are afraid they might, as well as family members and caregivers. Admission is free. To RSVP, call 947-2797.

Case management

Community Services Agency case managers are scheduled to visit the Senior Center 10 a.m. Friday to discuss nutrition consultation and 10 a.m. April 19 to discuss senior housing. To make an appointment, call 947-2797.

CSA’s Senior Services Program provides referrals to community resources, makes arrangements for in-home services and works cooperatively with care providers. For more information, call 968-0836, ext. 131.

Classes

The Los Altos Recreation Department has introduced a host of classes for spring. Offerings include Belly Dancing; The Early Renaissance in Italy; a Feldenkrais class devoted to relaxation, vitality and movement; Pilates Bone Building; Tai Chi for Life; and 10 Weeks to Playing Winning Bridge. A two-part seminar, Peter Evans’ Rejuvenate Your Retirement, will explore financial issues and concepts important to retirees in straightforward, sometimes humorous, language. Movie tour

The Senior Center has scheduled a San Francisco Movie Tour 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. June 26. Participants will watch movie clips on a big screen as they pass by locations made famous by classic and contemporary movies. An actor-turned-guide will provide behind-the-scenes information and trivia about San Francisco and the films. The tour includes lunch at Mel’s Drive-In. Cost is $97 members, $107 nonmembers. Scholarships

The Los Altos City Council approved a Senior Commission recommendation to authorize eight scholarships of up to $200 for Senior Center membership. Scholarships are available on a first-come, first-served basis to qualifying households. Applicants must be older than 50, reside in Los Altos and have an individual income of less than $39,800. To request an application, call Peggy Ford at the Recreation Department at 947-2887.

Los Altos Hills also offers scholarships for residents. For more information, call Community Service Coordinator Sarah Gualtieri at 947-2518.
