Stoney and Jan Edwards documented their journey to the Arctic region in photographs, including this up-close-and-personal images of a leaping polar bear.

Los Altos residents Stoney and Jan Edwards have scheduled a multimedia presentation on their Arctic photographic odyssey, “60 to 80 Degrees North: Oslo to Svalbard,” 7:30 p.m. March 15 in the Hillview Community Center Multipurpose Room, 97 Hillview Ave., Los Altos.

The production will feature images from the Edwardses’ photographic voyage from Oslo to northern Norway and on to Svalbard in the Arctic, between Norway and the North Pole. Live narration will accompany the photos.

Norway highlights will include photos of Oslo, Lillehammer, Lovund, the island of Vaeroy, the Lofoten Islands and Trondheim. The Svalbard Archipelago comprises four large mountainous islands and hundreds of smaller ones. The couple departed from the island of Spitsbergen at Longyearbyen – the world’s most northerly town. Svalbard is home to Arctic landscapes, polar bears, bearded seals and walruses.

The Los Altos main library, 13 S. San Antonio Road, has scheduled an exhibition of the images from the Edwardses’ adventures through the end of March.
