The Pear Avenue Theatre is slated to present the world premiere of “The Apple Never Falls” – Paul Braverman’s latest saga of Frankie Payne, East Boston’s lone female detective – through Saturday in Mountain View. Two years ago, Pear patrons met Frankie Payne in Braverman’s “No Good Deed.” Set in 1962, that play introduced the hard-smoking, hard-drinking and crime-savvy private detective, who was dealing with the Winter Hill Gang and corruption in Boston’s police force. “Apple” is set two years later.
Directed by Michael Champlin, the production features Diane Tasca – Pear’s artistic director – reprising her role as the intrepid detective Frankie. Performances are scheduled 8 p.m. Thursdays through Saturdays and 2 p.m. Sundays. The theater is located at 1220 Pear Ave. Tickets are $10-$30. For advance tickets and more information, call 254-1148 or visit www.thepear.org.
