Landscape historian and author Judith B. Tankard is scheduled to discuss “Gertrude Jekyll and the Country House Garden” 2-3 p.m. March 23 at Filoli, 86 Canada Road, Woodside. Tankard will highlight the gardens of Jekyll (1843-1932), an author and horticulturist, and her theories on color, planting and design, with a selection of some of Jekyll’s famous garden commissions.
The presentation will explore Jekyll’s collaborations with Sir Edwin Lutyens, which spanned 40 years and resulted in such seminal masterpieces of the Arts and Crafts movement as Hestercombe, Folly Farm and Deanery Gardens. Admission is $25 for members, $30 for nonmembers. For tickets and more information, call 364-8300, ext. 508, or visit www.filoli.org.
