Tuesday night (Feb. 26) marked the end of the Central Coast Section basketball playoffs for three local high school teams, but two others survived to play another day.

The St. Francis and Pinewood boys advanced to the CCS Division II and V finals, respectively, while the Los Altos boys and Mountain View girls lost their Division II semifinal games and the Pinewood girls dropped their Open Division consolation-round contest.

The third-seeded St. Francis boys cruised into the final by routing No. 2 Leigh 69-55 at Santa Clara High. The Lancers (11-16) are scheduled to return to Santa Clara 8 p.m. Friday (March 1) to face No. 4 Willow Glen (22-6) for the title.

Willow Glen eliminated No. 8 Los Altos 59-57 Tuesday at Santa Clara. The Eagles, who reached the semifinals for the first time in school history, finished the season with a 19-8 record.

The second-seeded Pinewood boys upended No. 3 St. Francis Central Coast Catholic 62-42 Tuesday at Alma Heights Christian in Pacifica. The defending champion Panthers (13-11) are slated to meet top seed Alma Heights (26-3) in the final 8 p.m. Friday (March 1) at Notre Dame De Namur University in Belmont.

The fifth-seeded Mountain View girls gave Presentation trouble before the top-seeded team prevailed 58-51 Tuesday at Christopher High in Gilroy. The Spartans finished 23-3.

The Pinewood girls, seeded seventh in the formidable Open Division, fell 50-42 to No. 3 St. Ignatius Tuesday at Oak Grove High. The Panthers, routed by Mitty in their playoff opener, dropped to 20-8.
