A free, three-hour emergency preparedness class aims to educate residents of Los Altos Hills about how a household can plan to weather a disaster. Mike Sanders of the Los Altos Hills County Fire Department leads program, which is offered four times this winter. The classes, scheduled 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Friday and 6-9:30 p.m. March 20, cover events that might impact the Bay Area and what residents can do to be ready. Officials estimate that in the case of a major disaster, many citizens may need to be able to fend for themselves for up to three days before they are reached by relief efforts.
Two senior-oriented preparedness sessions with specialized health and wellness training are scheduled 4-6 p.m. Tuesday and Feb. 21 (a two-day class), and 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. March 23. For more information, visit lahcfd.org.
