Troop 103 Boy Scouts Michael Roberts, left, and Raymond Meijer receive their Eagle awards. The two Mountain View residents completed Eagle projects that benefit the community.

Raymond Meijer and Michael Roberts, members of Los Altos Boy Scout Troop 103, received their Eagle ranks, the highest achievement in Boy Scouts, at an Eagle Court of Honor ceremony Jan. 26 at St. Simon Parish Church.

Meijer, the son of Paul and Mary Claire Meijer of Mountain View, has been involved in Scouting since first grade.

For his Eagle project, he designed and built a series of retaining walls, forming a ramped path up a hillside that enables safer and easier access to a shed containing emergency supplies for St. Simon School and Parish. The project involved 298 community service hours volunteered by Scouts, friends and adults.

Meijer is a senior at Bellarmine College Preparatory, where he is on the varsity cross country and track teams and a member of the Agape service club. He plans to attend Amherst College in the fall.

Roberts, the son of Gary and Michele Roberts of Mountain View, has been involved in Scouting since first grade.

For his Eagle project, he created a music library and published a 144-page songbook for the St. Simon Contemporary Music Ministry. The project, which took more than 160 community service hours to complete, included taking inventory of existing unorganized music, developing a file organization system, restoring sheet music and publishing a songbook of original music by the music group’s composer.

Roberts, a sophomore at St. Francis High School, is a member of the swimming and diving and water polo teams and plays tenor saxophone in the Symphonic Band and Marching Band.

Troop 103, sponsored by St. Simon Catholic Parish, is part of the Pacific Skyline Council.
