Waldorf School of the Peninsula has scheduled “A Renaissance in Education,” a free event featuring students’ work, 6-9 p.m. Thursday at its Mountain View campus, 180 Rengstorff Ave.

The exhibition-style evening, open to the public, will include samples of student academic work in sciences, math, humanities and languages; a display of fine and practical art; and student performances in drumming, orchestra, Eurthymy (a form of movement unique to Waldorf education), Shakespearean monologues and an array of choral and instrumental music.

Waldorf School of the Peninsula was established in 1984 by a small group of parents and educators motivated by their desire, in high-tech Silicon Valley, for a school that would address the heart and will as well as the mind of the child.

Their whole-child approach, which encourages young people to blossom as their physical, moral, emotional and cognitive capacities unfold, is the cornerstone of the Waldorf philosophy.

Waldorf School of the Peninsula serves approximately 300 students in nursery through high school programs.
