Aurobora, an invitational fine-arts studio, is scheduled to open 5-8 p.m. Friday at 359 State St., in conjunction with the monthly First Friday event.

Los Altos is the first stop on the traveling exhibition’s tour, slated to remain open downtown through March.

Founding Director Michael Liener and Gallery Director Jordan Felling invite the public to visit the studio Friday for wine, cheese, music and an introduction to Aurobora.

The studio displays works by artists with regional, national and international reputations and exhibits regularly changing shows of works created by artists during residencies.

After 20 years of inviting artists to create monotypes and other works on paper in its San Francisco studio, Aurobora is changing things up this year as it enters its third decade, according to Felling.

Following its motto, “Without experimentation, there is no discovery, and without discovery, there is no regeneration,” Aurobora has launched a traveling series of gallery projects to introduce its extensive art archive in select communities.

“This is a wonderful way for Aurobora to engage and be part of a local community,” Felling said. “This adventure will allow new clients and interested individuals an opportunity to view contemporary art and begin a dialogue.”

Aurobora’s hours are 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily, except for Tuesdays, when it closes for private appointments.
