The cast of Bus Barn’s “On Golden Pond” includes, from left, Steve Lambert, Lillian Bogovich and Sam Hyrkin. Bus Barn Stage Company’s production of “On Golden Pond” is scheduled to run Thursday through Feb. 17 in Los Altos. The comedy by Ernest Thompson is about enduring love.
“Pond” recounts the love story of Ethel and Norman Thayer, who are returning to their summer home on Golden Pond for a 48th year. Alone together, they have to face the cracks that have appeared in their well-worn but playful relationship. When their daughter Chelsea shows up with her fiancé and his stepson, they discover the grandson they never had. Over the course of the summer, they all learn to appreciate what they have with the knowledge that life is fleeting and over all too quickly. Virginia Drake directs the play, which features Steve Lambert (as Norman), Lillian Bogovich (Ethel), Deb Anderson (Chelsea), Daniel H. Tookman (Charlie), Daniel P. Wilson (Bill Ray) and Sam Hyrkin (Billy Ray Jr.). Performances are slated 8 p.m. Thursdays through Saturdays, 3 p.m. Sundays and 7:30 p.m. Wednesdays at the Bus Barn Theater, 97 Hillview Ave. This Thursday’s show is a preview and Friday is opening night. A discussion with the director and cast is scheduled after the Feb. 2 show. Tickets are $18-$32. For tickets and more information, call 941-0551 or visit www.busbarn.org.
