Stolen item recovered

Jan. 15, 4:19 p.m., 100 block of Fremont Avenue: Belmont police recovered a GPS auto device that was stolen from a Los Altos resident’s vehicle in a separate incident. The original theft occurred Dec. 17.

Reckless driving

Jan. 16, 2:47 a.m., West El Camino Real and Grant Road: Patrol officers cited a motorist in a rental car for reckless driving on El Camino Real after observing him at speeds estimated at 70-80 mph.

DUI arrests

Jan. 16, 10:10 p.m., Almond Avenue and Avalon Drive: Patrol officers stopped a 64-year-old male driver for a moving violation and later determined that he was driving under the influence of alcohol. The driver was cited and later released from the Los Altos police station.

Jan. 17, 10:13 p.m., El Camino Real and Jordan Avenue: A two-vehicle collision resulted in a DUI charge for a 40-year-old male motorist. Both drivers were taken to a local hospital with minor injuries.

Fraud

Jan. 17, 7:32 a.m., Main Street: A resident reported that someone was fraudulently using money from a local nonprofit organization through the issuance of fictitious checks. The matter remains under investigation, according to police.

Pedestrian-vehicle accident

Jan. 17, 9:19 a.m., 600 block of Hollingsworth Drive: A resident reported being struck by a vehicle backing out of a driveway, one day after the accident occurred. According to police, the pedestrian decided to file a report after realizing the extent of injuries sustained during the incident.
