Cadette Girl Scouts Hannah Klaassen, left, and Allison Verbil need the community’s help to provide warmth to the area’s homeless. Hannah Klaassen and Allison Verbil, eighth-grade Cadette Girl Scouts from Los Altos Troop 60755 working to earn their Girl Scout Silver Award, need help from the community to complete their award project. The Scouts are knitting, crocheting and collecting hats and scarves for the homeless. Their goal is to make and gather as many warm accessories as possible by March 31 to donate to the Community Services Agency, which will distribute them locally to those in need.
Drop off handmade knitted or crocheted hats and scarves at the Mountain View Senior Center, 266 Escuela Ave., or Uncommon Threads, 293 State St., Los Altos. To arrange for pickup of donations or for more information on the project, email
