The Los City Council invites residents to apply for appointments to various city commissions. Commission members serve in an advisory capacity to the city council and address a variety of community needs.

According to city representatives, commission members are essential to the city’s commitment to developing policies and services that reflect the needs and values of the community. In carrying out responsibilities, members work closely with fellow commission members, staff and the city council.

The 2013 appointments expire in February 2017.

The following commissions have three openings: Bicycle and Pedestrian Advisory, Environmental, Historical and Library.

Parks and Recreation and Public Arts each has four openings.

The Senior Commission has two openings.

The Los Altos-Los Altos Hills Joint Community Volunteer Service Awards Committee has three openings.

Applicants must be Los Altos residents, with the exception of the Library Commission and the Joint Volunteer Service Awards Committee.

Interested parties are encouraged to visit the city website to review agendas and minutes from recent meetings to become familiar with current issues under consideration as well as the advisory body’s current goals.

For more information on the specific focus of each commission and to access application forms, visit www.losaltosca.gov.

The deadline for applications is Jan. 25. Interviews are scheduled Feb. 5.

Submit applications to the City Clerk’s office at city hall, 1 N. San Antonio Road.

For more information, call 947-2720 or visit www.losaltosca.gov.
