Locals are gathering for a knit-in at Los Altos' Main Library 3-5 p.m. Thursday (Jan. 17), crafting items for soldiers on active duty, wounded veterans and Afghan families.

Crocheters are welcome to the event too.

Bring your yarn and your time, and the library will supply the hot cocoa.

The knit-in is scheduled as part of Silicon Valley Reads 2013, which has the theme "Invisible Wounds of War."
