Kathryn Hanson of Los Altos, executive director of ALearn, thanks Rotarians for donating Fine Art in the Park proceeds to her nonprofit organization. ALearn helps prepare struggling math students for college. Rotarian David Smith looks on. Representatives of 17 local nonprofit organizations accepted checks at a Rotary Club of Los Altos luncheon last month. The Rotary Club’s annual Fine Art in the Park show raised the funds presented to the community organizations.
During the grant request period, Rotary received requests totaling $77,098 from 22 local agencies. A group of 12 Rotarians, headed by Community Grants Chairman Jerry Moison, selected the recipient agencies, which were awarded grants ranging from $300 to $5,000 each for a combined total of $28,000. “There are so many worthy nonprofit groups serving Los Altos that it feels wonderful to be able to award funding to some of them,” Moison said. “I felt terrible not to be able to satisfy all.” For application forms for spring and fall grants, visit www.losaltosrotary.org.
