The Los Altos Hills City Council swore in two new members, from left, Courtenay C. Corrigan and John Harpootlian. Former Mayor Rich Larsen returns to the council.

Surrounded by a standing-room-only crowd at Los Altos Hills Town Hall, Courtenay C. Corrigan and John Harpootlian took their seats on the city council following the official administration of the oath ceremony Dec. 13. Outgoing Mayor Rich Larsen was also sworn into office, beginning his second four-year term as councilman.

The council appointed the three candidates Aug. 23 because they faced no opposition for the three open seats. By forgoing the Nov. 6 election, Los Altos Hills saved approximately $20,000 in election expenses.

Outgoing councilmembers Jean Mordo and Ginger Summit were honored with parting gifts from the town and accolades from their colleagues. Although they will no longer have a vote on the council, the retiring councilmembers will continue to serve the community on advisory committees. Mordo will serve on the Finance and Investment Committee and Summit on the History Committee for the next four years.

The new council voted to appoint Gary Waldeck mayor and John Radford vice mayor.

The next council meeting is scheduled 6 p.m. Jan. 24 at Los Altos Hills Town Hall, 26379 W. Fremont Road.
